One of the most common questions I get asked over on Instagram is how to style a bandana!
Bandanas are the ultimate must-have. Certain trends have become more popular over time. One of these trends is the bandana, that we can see styled in different ways: in your hair, around the neck or worn under a collar. A lot of it has to do with its endless variability. There’s no wrong way to wear it and an infinite number of so right ways, that spotting a new bandana trick can feel like a treat each time.
How to style a bandana
So, in this post and in my YouTube video that you can check below (don’t forget to subscribe), you can find six different ways on how to style a bandana.
The Old-Fashioned Way Around the Neck
Fold your bandana in half diagonally so that the ends meet, then tie it around your neck. This gives you a more refined look: if you are wearing a simple outfit, by adding a bandana, you will get an edgy look and it will protect you against the cold.
Choker Style
- Lay your bandana on a hard surface.
- Fold the bottom corner of the bandana up to the top corner to make a large triangle.
- Take the top corner and fold it down towards the base of the triangle. Fold in half length-wise and repeat until the bandana forms a band that is approximately 1½” wide.
- Hold the band firmly and tie the bandana around your neck.
- Secure both ends with a knot or bow and position the bandana as you wish.
In this way, you will use your bandana as a choker.
Bandana as a Headband
Wearing a bandana as a headband is a great look for this time of year, since headbands are a big trend right now. Roll it up, then tie it together at the top of your head. You also can move the knot to one side, to create a playful look.
Around your Wrist
Do you want a rock style? Well, this is easy: you can tie your bandana around your wrist and you will add a rock vibe to any outfit.
Around your Ponytail
And why not? By adding the bandana around your ponytail, you will get a unique and edgy style. (Check the video so that you can see how to tie the bandana around your ponytail). Try this look with both large and small bandanas for a play on proportion.
On your Bag
If you would like to give a personal touch to your bag, I suggest you to tie your bandana around its handle. With this trick you will update your bag and you will be more stylish.
