With so many different types of swimsuits, shopping for swimwear isn’t always the easiest thing to do. From picking the perfect bottoms and tops for your figure to finding the appropriate size, looking for the perfect bathing suit can be tedious. What’s more, aside from paying attention to the type of swimwear that looks best on you, it’s a good idea to shop for the favorite bikini according to your skin tone, so that it will flatter your figure all the way.
How to Pick the Right Swimwear colors for Your Skin Tone
Find out your skin tone
From fair, through pale and ivory, to beige and ebony, those are just some of the shades your skin can be. Your undertone can be either cool or warm, and you can easily find out which one you are. The underside of your arm will show you whether your undertone is cool or warm if you look at your veins. If they appear blue and your skin has pink or blue hues, your undertone is cool. If, on the other hand, your skin appears more yellowish and your veins look green, your undertone is warm. Another way to find out which undertone you are is to look at the jewelry you wear. Gold flatters a warm undertone, while silver looks best on a cool undertone.
Shop ‘till you drop
For very light skin and light red or blonde hair, soft colors are the best choice. Beige, blue and soft pink will look most flattering on you. If you’re a redhead, consider cobalt blue and white swimsuits. You can also choose blacks and greens, but you never know whether you’ll choose the right shade since they won’t look flattering on both warm and cool undertones. Stay away from yellow and orange because they’ll bring out your pale side.
If your complexion in combination with your hair makes you look like Snow White, you have a creamy light skin tone that’ll look fabulous in blue hues. Turquoise, baby blue or navy are your best choices of trendy figure-flattering swimwear, same as fuchsia, emerald, and plum. On the other hand, white and orange swimwear is not the best choice for your skin tone.
Medium-light skin will look wonderful in deep reds and earthy tones. So if you have brown hair and medium-light skin tone, stay away from beige hues and fleshy peaches, because they will probably wash you out. Stick to reds and earthy tone, and avoid greys and black, because they’ll also look unflattering.
If you have dark hair in combination with a light brown or olive skin tone, look for black, blue, or a variety of patterned swimsuits. Since your skin tone will look gorgeous in almost any color, feel free to experiment with bold choices and try out burnt oranges and even army greens. While any color will look fabulous on you, avoid grey and brown swimwear because they won’t bring out that fabulous glow as more vibrant hues will.
Jeweled-toned pinks along with bright yellows and purples are all a light black skin tone needs to look amazing. They’ll create a pop of color, making your skin immediately glow. Medium brown, beige or olive green are too similar to your skin tone, which is why you should avoid them.
Swimwear that’s best for caramel skin is by far deep orange. A warm purple and teal, as well as mint green and cool aqua shades, will look absolutely stunning on you. On the other hand, your skin tone won’t look as good in yellow, and olive green, so make sure you don’t shop for those colors.
Baby blues, mint greens, and pastel shades, in general, are everything a very dark skin tone needs. Pale yellows will look marvelous on you but forget all about brown, orange and white unless the suit fits you perfectly.
Remember, when you go shopping for swimwear, you need to pay attention to a lot more than just your figure. If you start choosing your next swimsuit according to your skin tone as well, you’ll have a much better chance of finding the most stunning piece ever.
