Easy Step by step guide to improve your SEO
I think just hearing someone mention SEO could send most of us running. This is probably one of the most complicated terms there is. Perhaps it’s because there are so many components to it, and it’s such a technical term. I’ve been in this business for a while now and I still haven’t quite wrapped my head around it. Have you?
All I know for sure is that it’s important and that most of us are struggling to understand it. I have realized that maybe we will never fully understand exactly how it works.
But in this blog, I will share EVERYTHING I know about SEO and how I’ve managed to make it work for myself in the hope that it will work for you as well.
Easy Step by step guide to improve your SEO
What is SEO
SEO is the abbreviation for Search Engine Optimization. This is the process of ranking a website highly on search engines.
It’s what we can do on and off our pages to make sure that they rank higher in the search engine.
SEO refers to the improvement of unpaid results and excludes direct traffic and the purchase of paid placement.
A few examples that you might have heard of are things like keywords, backlinks, or image alt texts. These are all ways that we can improve SEO. These improvements can be called optimizations. The goal is to optimize the ranking of your website.
Why SEO is important
SEO is important because millions of people are constantly conducting searches. Most of the time people are searching to find information about things or they are looking for answers to their questions.
Usually, SEO aims at optimizing your digital properties for a specific vicinity, so people can find you quickly and easily, putting them one step closer to buying your product.
Using SEO tactics to make sure that users see your deals, amazing products, or services, and the importance and dependability of what you offer customers will most likely shoot up your sales.
How does SEO work?
To start figuring out how SEO works we should start by thinking about how the search engine works. When it comes to SEO, there’s you, the search engine, and the searcher.
If you have a blog about how to become an influencer, you want the search engine, which most of the time is Google, to show it as a top result to the searches for the phrase “become an influencer”.
Your goal is to make it so that your blog is one of the top results whenever the searcher types in those specific keywords.
When it comes to landing in the top search results, two attributes carry the most weight on Google and they are relevance and authority. We will go deeper into those later on in the blog.
How to write keyword-rich content
When it comes to writing content that you want to rank high in searches then these are the two things that I advice you to keep in mind while creating content, make sure that what you’re writing provides value to the reader and focus on link-worthy content.
Now when I say provide value to the reader I simply mean helpful content that accurately answers the searcher’s intent — the reason behind people’s search queries or answers to their problems.
And by link-worthy, I’m referring to back-links.

What are backlinks?
A backlink is a link created when one website links to another external site.
It’s important to have backlinks from quality sites, and those backlinks should be contextual. If, for example, you have a site about food, and you are creating links from other niche sites about fashion, these links will be of no use. You should make sure that the links are from relevant sites that the reader would be interested in.
A few ways for you to make your content link-worthy are to:
- Create long articles that are about a thousand words long or even longer.
- Make sure you have images that are related to your content
- create infographics
Choosing the best keywords
Keywords dictate what each piece of content is about. Keywords even dictate how you build links, including everything from the tactics you choose to how you plan on implementing them.
Doing your keyword research up-front is a crucial part of great content.
Since you ideally want to include your targeted keyword in your post’s headline and throughout the article, you need to choose your keyword before you start writing.
This is not something that you have to guess or just make up. You can find the best keywords on Google. All you have to do is type in something relating to your niche and a whole bunch of examples will pop up. The fact that these have specifically been suggested means that they are popular and could be great keywords.
Now of course the purpose is to use your keyword throughout your content, but using your keyword in your text where it’s not relevant will hurt your rankings rather than improve them. That one keyword could send your site thousands of people each month. However, it’s probably the wrong audience. Make sure to not over-do it.
SEO is free. If you can afford to spend money on improving it, I would highly recommend you do so. For example, using WordPress and getting the Yoast plugin.
