5 Instagram trends you HAVE to know in 2020!
We live in a world where people are constantly moving from one trend to another in as little as a few days. Because WE are changing all the time this forces everything around us to change.
And that is why Instagram trends have become such a big thing. That is why I find it hard to stay up to date with everything all the time. I have done some research over the past few weeks on the latest Instagram trends that can improve my engagement and that’s why I have decided to put together 5 Instagram trends you HAVE to know in 2020!
5 Instagram trends you have to know about
Long Captions Instagram trend
Let me start by stating that the average caption length has doubled since 2016. This has allowed and encouraged people to start microblogging on Instagram.
These days your words mean more than ever.
People have started to admire deep and long captions that they can connect or relate to. They are seeking connections among others.
That is why having a long meaningful caption is more engaging than short meaningless quotes.
You should keep in mind that when someone is scrolling they will only see the first 125 characters of your caption this means that you should make your caption start with a bang to make that person stop scrolling and engage in on your post. Maybe try starting with a call to action or an important message you want to give through.

Memes on Instagram
Memes are starting to take over Instagram and have become a popular trend. More and more people explore on Instagram juts for a laugh or to find some inspiration.
You may ask “Why are they so popular?”.
Well, it’s because most of the time we can relate to a meme, AND what makes them go viral is the fact that they are sharable.
When your content gets shared on Instagram in any way (to others stories, reposts, or even via other platforms) shoots up your engagement.
Now I don’t know if I’m the only one, but so many times it happens that I go into Instagram and end up watching stories to see what other people are up to, so much so that I completely forget about the actual posts that people have posted.
I know I’m stating the obvious here and you probably all know that stories are important. Instagram has made it possible for us to share other peoples stories to our stories and to be able to share someone else’s story to another person.
But I want to point out something different we need to know about Instagram stories. The fact that if you haven’t noticed the more you spend actively engaging with others on your Instagram the better your posts perform and the more engagement you will get.
So what I am trying to say here is that your stories should be created to force others to actively engage in your content.
By that I mean you should be using polls, question boxes, and slider stickers in every second story you upload. Just make sure that these things you add in your stories must be something that your audience will find interesting.
Instagram has made it possible for users to shop right in the app. There have been many improved Instagram trends to make it as easy as possible for users to conveniently shop on Instagram.
We can now simply tag products we want to sell in your posts and stories. Users can complete their entire purchasing process right there in the app.
If you have an online shop and you are looking for new customers, then you need to be making use of the shopping feature.
It will multiply your customers immediately. It will allow customers to easily see real photos of the product that they like. This will make it possible for you to show off your personality and the lifestyle of your product or brand.
One thing you should keep in mind when starting to use the shopping feature is that you have to remember to be social even when trying to advertise. Don’t treat is as a sales tool. This will discourage people and may cause you to lose followers.

Instagram live TV
This has become very popular among the content creators and I think that more and more brands will start creating IGTV series as time goes on. All users have their own “channel”. And as soon as you access IGTV, videos will start to play.
It allows users to post longer videos than usual, it can generate more opportunities to educate and entertain your audience.
By starting to use the IGTV feature you can easily create more opportunities for engagement and it creates conversations among your audience.
A few benefits of IGTV are:
- Drives traffic
- You can create longer videos
- Immediate access to videos through your feed
- Boosts your engagement
As you can see there are not too many new trends, but give it a few weeks and I will have to update this blog.
If you are an influencer, brand, or business then it is important that you stay up to date with the new Instagram trends as much as you can. You should make it your priority!
If you don’t make use of the new trends that change you might start to fall behind and you won’t be able to use them to your advantage.
